Wut?
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:00 |

that is strange.

Fun fact: In northern parts of Norway "ka?" means "wut?".
But seriously, how mad is that person that bought that car in the US?

Well, I saw a Lincoln Town Car in São Paulo, so we're kind of even because both make you think "Why in the hell would anyone bother?"
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:08 |

I wish they were sold over here

nice Corolla photobomb

Maybe they had a dream to do this with it.

That would be cool to own just for the uniqueness of it. I love racing the Sport Ka in GT series so it might be fun to have as a city car here.

I know right? Of all things to import...
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:14 |

The Town Car makes a lot more sense to me than this.

you used the wrong picture to tease us :P
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:14 |

That person is crazy... awesome.
If I ever get rich enough that I have spare time/cash to pay for and jump through all the bureaucratic hoops, I'd import something like this. Just to be that guy .

The DC area is great for spotting cars shipped from other countries (mostly brought over by diplomats). In Virginia, I've seen a SEAT Cordoba, VW Touran, and a Lancia Thesis, similar to pictured.

I see I'm not the only one that uses screen lock.
Like a boss.
Edit: HOLY CRAP KINJA, THAT'S NOT WHERE I PUT THE BOX

They're sold in Mexico. I guess they could be driven across the border.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:21 |

Not here. They were never imported officialy and importing one would cost more than buying a german equivalent, or better. Someone must have been a real fan to buy it.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:22 |

As common as Civics in the UK. Seem like fun little cars though, so why not?

Freaking consulates and their diplomatic immunity.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:25 |

The German equivalent doesn't have the gangster charm of the Lincoln. Just sayin'.

Yeah, not uncommon in Southern California.

it never is

Hermann, if you go to Mooca in a Saturday you will have your brain exploded by old cars that made the Town Car look like the Ka! There some sheds there with at least 4 Cadillacs, some LIncolns (old ones), a few impalas and the list go on...
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:38 |

Ford KAs were actually sold in mexico, so I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to see one on this side of the border.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:39 |

I saw a few in So-Cal last year. Apparently you can get a Ford Ka in any color you want, as long as it's blue.

Well, I saw a '93-'96 Lincoln Mark VIII in Nova Iguaçu (Rio de Janeiro) the other day and my first reaction was "what in the name of fuck is this doing here?"... I love big coupés and that was a very pleasant surprise...

That settles it, I need diplo plates, I am going to import some wild effing cars.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 16:46 |

Good lord, you should probably clean some of those photos out of your phone.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 17:11 |

What's wrong with having 1200 pictures of my dick?
![]() 08/22/2013 at 17:25 |

Nothing, nothing at all. I'm sure there is an situation where each of those pics can be used.
Just make sure you back them up to something.. Wouldn't want you to lose them. :)

I was thinking more of this, but that's nice too.
![]() 08/22/2013 at 18:14 |

Yeah, I just mean at least the Town Car is at least conceivably desirable. Smooth ride, adequate (if not anemic by comparison) power, and very spacious. The Ford Ka on the other hand... I can think of almost no reason to import one. There are better options already here and it's not an inherently desirable car for any reason. It's a car you'd buy because you're on a budget. The Town Car is a car you'd buy for reasons other than cheapness.

I mean the lighting and everything is just perfect. It makes it look at least 3-4 inches!
![]() 08/22/2013 at 18:47 |

I usually include a dollar bill to reference sizes in photos.

I miss my Ka... here it is, when featured on Autoblog's "Reader Ride of the Day" back in 2006. Loved the little thing. That's why I drive a Fiat 500 now.

Import that thing? Ka-rack pipe!

The Mooca is a wonderful place for car lovers. My girlfriend used to live there and I study in the Jardins, where I see old porsches, cadillacs, mercedes and other awesome things on a daily basis. But a 2003-2011 (it was the last gen) Town Car is something I can't really imagine a reason for someone to import.
![]() 08/23/2013 at 07:20 |

You make a point. But it still twisted my ideas a bit. Because even being desirable is it S-Class money desirable?
![]() 08/23/2013 at 07:22 |
|
But is S-Class money worth this charm?
Of course it is.

My Girlfriend lives in Raposo Tavares and I work at Paulista, so everytime I go to her place, I go by Avenida Europa (car lover's paradise!)
You're right, a new car like that don't make much sense. Must be a crazy guy (like us. hehe).

I've seen a Town Car before, but it had embassy plates, so it must belong to the US embassy or something. But the one I saw last week had private plates and was driving on the Indianopolis near midnight.
Don't ask me what I was doing on Indianopolis near midnight.
